Best buy for on-slipping, hands free bathingMar 04, 2010 I have a sling, a folding tub, a normal baby tub, and this (purchased in that order) and this worked the best for me and my newborn. The baby would slip and slide in everything else, so I could never take my hand off him. This bather allows the baby to sink a little bit in the mesh seat to avoid slipping. And the recline is great cuz babies don't like to lay flat while they're bathing, unless they're in their first month or so. You can fill the tub or use a extended shower head which is what I used most of the time as we didn't have a bath tub in our first house. The seat is probably good until the baby is 6 or 7 months old or able to sit on their own. And this bather never buckled on me. It felt pretty secure.
The cons: The metal support does rust and it's good to place the seat cover in the laundry or it will start to smell if you don't have good ventilation in your bath room.
The pros: Best bather to prevent slipping (as wet babies are very slippery) and you can actually take your hands off the baby to grab something and not worry about them sliding down into the water. It also folds down for compact storage and the cover is washable.
My big baby needed this!Oct 31, 2009 My large 4 month old sort of outgrew his little infant tub, but was not ready to sit up yet. He also started lifting up his butt, sliding down and landing with his back on the little seat. I was putting him back in place over and over again and was worried he was going to hurt himself. This new seat works perfectly. He still slides down and I readjust him periodically, but he can't go too far now. The instructions say never to use more than an inch of water and I believe they just say that for liability reasons. I fill the bathtub so that he is covered as much as possible. His belly and arms are still exposed, but he would not enjoy a bath if he didn't get to be "in" the water. So far this has washed well. I throw it in the washer every time with his towels and it comes out fine. My only complaint is that the padding shifts around, but it has not caused a problem. I don't know how long he will be able to use this, but it has been a lifesaver at this stage.
Not as good as a baby tubOct 27, 2009 This was OK, but I didn't like having to fill up the 'grownup' bathtub every time I wanted to bathe the baby. It was a waste of water and time. I found it much more convenient to use a baby bathtub like the PRIMO EuroBath Transparent Blue, which I could fill in about 30 seconds and empty instantly by flipping it over.
Returned purchaseOct 06, 2009 My 7 month old son is too big for the baby tub and too small for the large adult bathtub. His balance is still a little off and for safety reasons I wanted to purchase a bath seat for him. I found this and thought it may work. Took it home and put it in the tub and before I even put water in the tub, realized it wasn't going to work. For your baby to ACTUALLY take a bath and get wet, you'd have to fill the tub up to the top. It was also sliding all over the bottom of the tub. I packed it right back up and returned it back to the store for my money back. This would only work for a newborn, i.e not getting the baby wet due to the belly button, not being mobile and moving about.
