 Works as a glider but is not the most comfortableAug 07, 2010
I ordered this based on the other good reviews but was disappointed when I received it. The quality seemed alright but it wasn't very comfortable as it is a very upright sitting chair. It was too high for me to rest my head on and the fabric was hard so my head couldn't just sink into the back. It was too narrow for my husband and the fabric on the side didn't cover very much so I worried about a baby's head hitting the side. Needless to say it went back to Amazon, I paid a little more and got a higher end rocker that reclined and was way more comfortable and worth it.

I have been looking for used gliders and couldn't find anything in good enough shape that was affordable. Then I came across this glider--it was a good price and it looked gorgeous! I jumped at the opportunity, since my little baby was already over a month old and I knew she needed this for her after-eating gassiness. The shipping was very timely and the packaging was great. It took about fifteen minutes to assemble and it came with all of the tools and parts needed. The chair is light enough so that we could easily get it upstairs and downstairs if needed. It is such a convenience to have the matching ottoman come right along with the chair. The natural wood color looks great with my crib and changing table (both have natural wood but are a different brand). The beige chenille cushions are so neutral that they will go with most decors. They are also very comfortable. So far, my daughter and I are having a lot of success nursing and burping with this glider! I highly recommend it (especially at the great sale price I received)!

My wife and I originally put this glider on our baby registry at BRU. She sat in every glider in every baby store and always loved the feel of this chair. A month after we put it on the registry we received an e-mail from BRU that this glider was now discontinued. We rushed to the store hoping to purchase one before they were no longer available. To our dismay they only had one left in any store in the US, it happened to be the store we were in but it was the floor model. The condition wasn't great so we asked for the model number and searched online. I found it on Amazon new for $20.00 cheaper than the clearance price at BRU plus Amazon offered a Free Shipping option (5-9 days). It was a no-brainer! The scheduled shipping date was 5/20/10. We received the glider at our house on 5/21/10. One day shipping and it didn't cost me a cent. My wife was extremely happy! It was easy to assemble as the gliding mechanisms come assembled already, as does the ottoman. The only complaint I had is that one dowel on the bottom came broken but it was nothing some wood glue couldn't fix in 5 minutes. It works great and is very comfortable! We would highly recommend this product!

the shermag glider rocker was a decent deal at $226.41: it isn't too hard to assemble, doesn't take too huge of a footprint in the baby room, and is relatively comfortable. at times, i feel it could be a little more sturdy; but i'm sure a very solid glider would cost quite a bit more. also, sometimes, i wish the chair arm padding would extend farther down the front of the arm because, i sometimes accidentally press my son's head against that wood surface while feeding him on my lap. i feel the ottoman part is very solid.
i wonder what we'll do with it when my son grows up though. i don't know if i want to leave it in his room: no boy really wants a rocker/glider and ottoman in his room, right? also, the base of the chair and ottoman both have plenty of pinch hazards for fingers of little crawlers, down at the gliding mechanism. so... it's great for infant parents, but i don't know exactly what i'll do with it when we graduate to become toddler parents.
