4Sleek looking cribFeb 22, 2010
This crib looks very modern and chic, especially compared to a lot of cribs that you can see displayed in baby stores like Babies R Us or Buy Buy Baby. I chose to buy this crib online mostly because I wanted to get a modern feel that would fit in with other similarly colored dark wood furniture. I also purchased the matching changing table with drawers so the two pieces go very well together. The drawer below the crib is a nice bonus which can't be found in many cribs and especially useful in a small apartment with limited storage space. This crib comes with a piece to convert the crib to a toddler bed. The construction was relatively easy (about 2 hours) since the four panels and mattress spring are already assembled pieces. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a more modern crib look at a reasonable price.

5Love the Mercer Crib!Feb 04, 2010
My father-in-law got us this crib as our Christmas present - our beebs is due March 31,2010. We LOVE the modern style and drawer space at the bottom. The crib is so easy to put together. Maybe took us an hour (we were watching a football game while assembling). Very clean style. LOVE our crib!

3Nice Design, Mediocre QualityJan 30, 2010
I bought this crib because the reviews were pretty good and it met a few key criteria:
- a more contemporary design
- reasonable price
- matching furniture pieces available
- good quality & safety

Design - it is very nice. The white / expresso color combination with clean line design make this very visually appealing.

Price - eh...not bad. A bit more expensive than many cribs we considered from Babies R Us, Target, etc. However, still within a reasonable range. Certainly much less than many of the higher end cribs we liked at Room and Board, and other online shops.

Matching Furniture - we purchased the 3 drawer dress with changing station. It also looks very nice.

Safety and Quality - well this is where the crib falls a bit short. I will say the quality is pretty much a half step better than what you'd find at Ikea. It uses the same assembly screws and pieces (instructions often had mistakes). The drawer at the bottom (much like the drawers on the changing table) are a thin board on the bottom - super flimsy. They do not glide that well (in fact, this is the worst part about the furniture). The outer frame is pretty good construction. Adjusting the height of the mattress is going to be a big pain in the arse given the way the box spring is attached to the frame.

Overall, the crib looks like it will do an ok job. We're 2 weeks from the big day, so I guess I need to wait and see the ultimate test. In the end, I hope this crib lasts for our next child, but I give it a 50/50 chance. So if in the end I have to buy another crib, then perhaps paying the extra bucks for a high end crib would've made sense (assuming the construction quality is that much better and would last multiple children).

2Poor packaging, poor finish and sub-strandard materialsJan 29, 2010
We ordered this crib after reading the glowing reviews. Sadly our experience has been very disappointing. Reasons:
- First, the packaging of this crib is really poor. Halfway through assembling the crib I found that one of the end panels was broken. We ordered a replacement and to our dismay even that arrived broken!!! I checked the packaging and there was gash on the packaging causing the end panel (no foam protection for this poor piece!!) to break. Rather than order yet another replacement we just used the 2 end panels from the two packages. Thankfully I hadn't returned the other damaged crib yet.
- Second while putting the crib together we noticed a lot of places where the paint wasn't smooth. You could easily feel slightly sharp bumps when running your finger over them. While I agree that they are not sharp for us I am a little afraid for if they can accidentally cut or bruise the baby. Maybe I am just being paranoid.
- Third: I am not very pleased with the material in the crib. The drawer feels just like an ikea drawer (even though the crib costs much more) and I was afraid of moving the pieces around while I was assembling the crib. I was constantly afraid that one of the wooden bars in the end panels would break. Seriously it feels that light.

I had much higher expectations form a crib that is at least double the price of other top sellers and seems such highly rated.

4Looks Fabulous, Some Pieces Could Be More SolidDec 17, 2009
Item is very heavy in the box. Being 7 months pregnant when it arrived, (it was left on the porch when I wasn't at home), I was not able to lift or drag it over the threshold and into the house. Because the front and back crib panels are a few inches off the ground, you will need two people to put this together. It took my husband and I about 2 hours, mainly because we were trying very hard not to scratch anything, but a couple of the directions were a little off. It really wasn't hard to put together, though. The worst part is the safety stickers all over one of the brown panels - we still haven't gotten those off. Be sure to take them off before you start assembling - it will be easier on you that way. Also, the instructions say not to use a power screwdriver, but we did, carefully & on the lowest setting, and that saved a ton of time and did not split or damage anything.

The wood is a little soft. I imagine it will scratch and ding very easily. All four panels have marks you can see where each vertical rail was nailed to the top piece - the directions try to help you position those pieces so you won't see the marks. They are tiny enough, and they were painted over, so they didn't bother me. The drawer pieces are very flimsy, other than the front. Besides that, the crib seems very sturdy once assembled.

I liked that it came with a toddler rail and has multiple positions for the mattress. The best part is the style. It is just very difficult to find modern baby furniture, and when you do, it's very expensive. We bought this with the Baby Italia Scandi dresser, and they look great together.

If you have modern sensibilities, you won't want to buy a crib skirt - sorry - you are going to have to with this crib, or you will see a gaping hole and everything in the bottom drawer. Find a straight skirt or one with a single pleat instead of ruffles; it won't detract from the minimalist look of this lovely crib.
