5Comfy and worth the moneyFeb 26, 2009
By Dr. Sarah E. McKibben
This glider is terrific for breastfeeding and chilling out with the baby. It's very smooth, comfortable, and looks decent, too. I would recommend shelling out for this more expensive and plumper-cushioned one, since you need all the cushioning you can get after birth and in the high-repetition on-demand breastfeeding schedule. One word of warning: the company ships these things in the cheapest, flimsiest box EVER and they can get damaged, so inspect CAREFULLY (the damage will probably be evident from both outside and inside the box, if you know what I mean) and snap photos and contact customer service to get replacement parts/pieces. Unfortunately, our ottoman was badly cracked in transit and the glider was dinged and a plastic piece that locks the unit was broken. We asked for a replacement for the ottoman but just for the broken part for the glider. It came without too much delay, but what a hassle. If it was all broken you'd have to ship it back...what a huge huge pain. But I do really really like this rocker (in cherry).

3Not bad for the money.Sep 21, 2009
By B. DeSpain
Bought this glider/ottoman combo for my wife as she is expecting our first child. We looked around a few stores at their glider's and weren't exactly thrilled with what we saw. Some were rather expensive for what you got, and others weren't very comfortable.
We decided that since there wasn't one we saw that we just had to have, that we might as well look online and find the best value. This glider assembled easily and looks good, we really like the espresso finish. I am definitely no fan of the micro-fiber, but there aren't a lot of other options for gliders. My wife really enjoys it, and she's the one it's for, so her opinion counts the most. She is 5'4" and fits her very well. It has grown on me, but is a bit narrow and I would prefer a slightly taller back (I'm only 5'10", so might be a problem for taller people). The locking mechanism is actually a nice feature and works well. We did try some that reclined that in retrospect was a nice feature that this glider does not have.
The ottoman is fairly basic, and does not have a nursing tray that slides out as some other ottomans had. That seemed to be another nice feature that is lacking.
Overall, it is a decent glider & ottoman. For the money, this is a good purchase. I don't regret buying it, I just wish there were better options out there.

5Wonderful Purchase!!!Mar 31, 2009
By A. King
We purchased this chair after trying out less expensive chairs at Babies R Us. My husband and I scoured the internet as well as did in store research before making this purchase. Aside from our crib and dresser this was the third most expensive item we purchased for our nursery and we wanted to make a good choice. We have NOT been disappointed. The chair is very comfortable. My husband is 6'2, with a muscular build and he fits in the chair very comfortably, and subsequently loves the chair. I'm much smaller and the cushioning is wonderful! We love the color, and style of the chair as well. The color of the fabric could easily match with any decor as it's slightly off white. The chair was also easy to put together. Considering we purchased this on sale, we feel like we got an EXCELLENT deal. Couldn't be happier. We were worried about the locking mechanism but haven't had any issues with it yet. Would definitely recommend this to friends and family.

4Great chair, just could be a smidge largerAug 31, 2009
By Illinikayaker
This is a really a great chair, the only complaints we have with it is that it could be larger and the ottoman could be higher.

The seat is approximately the size of an economy class airline seat. It's just fine for us because I'm petite and my husband is very tall and slim, so he fits in it too, but if you have a sturdier build, it might be a bit cozy for you. The ottoman that comes with this chair could be a little higher. Most ottomans are either at, or close to the height of the chair seat and this one is definitely lower. It's not uncomfortable, just a little strange. While the back height is perfect for me to rest my head on (I'm 5'6"), it hits my 6ft 4 husband at the top of his shoulders and it would be nice if the back were tall enough that he could rest his head on the back too since the chair is so comfortable it would put anyone to sleep!

All in all though, we're very happy with this chair. We did a lot of research before buying this chair and Shermag, along with Dutalier, is one of the top manufacturers for rocker gliders. Shermag was also recommended in the latest edition of the Baby Bargains book (kind of like a consumer reports for baby products). The setup was literally about 15 minutes and the cushions are very comfy. The gliding mechanism is incredibly smooth and the materials appear to be high quality.

A couple of nice aspects about this chair that I didn't know before we got it were that 1)you can lock the chair so it can't glide at all 2)you can lock the chair into a couple of "reclined" positions as though you're in a recliner although this feature seems a little strange to me since without an attached foot support like a regular recliner then your legs sort of dangle.

All in all, great chair great quality!

UPDATE: A year of HEAVY use later, and we still love this chair! It's held up flawlessly. Still comfy, quiet, and the cushions still look like new
2nd UPDATE: TWO years later and still perfect! Now using it for #2 and just as comfy as with #1! :)

5Love it!Oct 31, 2008
By Katie Blanton "Katie Blanton"
Gliders and ottomans can get extreamly expensive! When purchasing mine, I bought for comfort not necessarily price. However, this ones price made it much more appealing. The cherry wood is a little dark, but I love the comfort! The pockets on the side are spacious enough to hold some the nursing essentials. It also has a lock on the glider which made it great when bringing baby home after delivery. All around I feel this is a great purchase!
